Family Support

We know there are many challenges to raising a child with mental health needs. We also know that one of the best sources of support is often other families who have been there.

At the Resource Center, experienced parents of children with mental health needs offer their knowledge and support through our Family Navigator program. Navigators are available for one-on-one support, and also offer periodic education and training on a variety of topics, such as: building resilient families; effective communication skills; natural supports for families; supports and services in Virginia; self-care; and peer support.

Are you an experienced parent, grandparent or guardian of a child who has received mental health services?  We are currently recruiting volunteers to join our team of family navigators.

For more information, contact the Resource Center at (804) 447-2124 or familynav@mentalhealth4kids.org.
